Bishop Isadore Grant, Jr.

“A divine set up” is the phrase Bishop Isadore Grant uses to describe that remarkable day when he visited Christ Haven Church. The year was 1984. What he thought was a mere visit to witness the christening of his oldest nephew, turned into a life changing touch of the Holy Ghost that would leave him planted in the Christ Haven ministry for the next three decades and more. Reflecting on that day and the visit, Pastor Grant says it was Founding Pastor William Todd’s preaching that touched his heart and wouldn’t let him leave the same way he came. Already filled with the Holy Ghost — but experiencing life as a college-aged youth — Grant joyfully remembers the word preached by Bishop Todd that rekindled his fire for our Lord Jesus Christ.

He became an official member of the church in 1985. Since that time, he’s served on a number of ministries including the usher board and brotherhood choir. He’s also humbly served as a van driver, janitorial worker, Christian Education teacher, and Brotherhood Auxiliary president. In 2002, he was elevated to become an Elder and in 2004 was ordained as one of the assistant pastors of the Christ Haven Church,.

Elder Grant became the senior pastor of Christ Haven in November of 2015, following the transition of Bishop Todd, Christ Haven’s beloved founder.

The vision he’s received from God to lead the ministry stems from the passage of scripture, Isaiah 58:12, declaring that Christ Haven will build the old waste places: shall raise up the foundations of many generations, and shall be called the repairer of the breach and the restorer of paths to dwell in.

Pastor Grant and his wife, First Lady Shawn Grant, have been married for 32 years. They have three lovely children: Sister Christina Grant, Brother Isadore Grant III, and Sister Brittne Epps, and six beautiful grandchildren Aigne Marie, Bria Christina, and Cymphony Rose, who are affectionately known to the Christ Haven Church family as “The Pop-Pop Praisers”, Anthony Wilson Audelien, and newborns; Travis Jr., and Isabella Michelle. Pastor Grant also celebrates his mother, Mother Ida Grant, who is a lover of God and of God’s people and is a pillar within the Christ Haven Church ministry.

First Lady

Lady Shawn D. Grant

First Lady Shawn D. Grant is a native of Philadelphia, PA and a longtime member of the Christ Haven Church.

Lady Shawn, at the tender age of 16, surrendered her life to the Lord Jesus Christ, and as a result, received the gift of the Holy Ghost! She would always mention this experience as something she couldn’t believe happened to her. She was so amazed at how the Holy Ghost just fluently spoke through her as she received Him. She will never forget that encounter with God on the altar. This encounter changed her life and sparked many moments of praise from her soul. She could be heard singing the praises of the One who “sacrificed His life for her liberty!”

In 1985, Lady Shawn met a young man of God, by the name of Isadore Grant, Jr., and in August of 1987, they tied the knot. Out of this union came 3 beautiful children: Christina, Isadore III, and Brittne.

Lady Grant has been faithful to the work of the ministry as she served for over 20 years as the head directress of the Christ Haven Adult choir. Even now from time to time, you will see her directing the Fellowship choir or singing a lead!

Through many dangers, toils, and snares Lady Shawn has already come. Lady Shawn has been elevated to a deeper place in life and in Christ; a grandmother of six and First Lady of the Christ Haven Pentecostal Church. Though the burdens are hard to bear at times, the strength of the Holy Ghost keeps pushing her through.

It can truly be said that Lady Shawn has been blessed and has a testimony. There are so many untold stories and testimonies that she has and one day will tell. However, one thing we know for certain; her one testimony has always been, “There is no way I can live without you, Lord”. To God be all the glory for the things that he has done!

Founding Pastor

Bishop William F. Todd, Sr.

Bishop William Fleming Todd, Sr. was the Founder and beloved late Pastor of the Christ Haven Pentecostal Church. He was born on September 20th, 1945 in Washington, D.C.. As a young boy, he surrendered his life to Christ in May of 1961, after a classmate witnessed to him by way of a Bible tract on a school playground. The Lord used this to open his eyes and understanding to the truth of God’s plan of salvation. On August 1st of that same year, Bishop Todd was baptized in Jesus’ name and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost through the laying on of hands. His love for God was contagious and often resulted in praise. Desiring to do more for the Lord, he fervently witnessed to many individuals. During an evangelical street service, while passing out Bible tracts, the Lord anointed Bishop Todd to preach the gospel. It was during this time that it became evident that God would use Bishop Todd mightily to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

After serving 12 faithful years at Zion Apostolic Temple Church in Philadelphia, Bishop Todd was called to the Pastorate. In 1983, a small prayer group was formed and the ministry of Christ Haven Pentecostal Church began in Ardmore. The prayer group grew and the Lord moved the Christ Haven church to 206 S. 5th street, in Darby. In 1998, The Lord led Bishop Todd to join World Assemblies of Restoration (W.A.R) under the Founder and former Presiding Prelate, Bishop James D. Nelson. After years of operating in the Darby community, Christ Haven moved, in 2010, to the Worship Center, at 6800 Lindbergh Boulevard in Philadelphia. Bishop Todd was appointed District Elder, Overseer, and then Bishop. In 2014, he was elevated to 2nd Assistant Presiding Bishop.

On August 26, 2015, Bishop Todd transitioned from labor to reward. His legacy and foundation remains and stands sure.

Bishop and his wife, Mother Thomasina Todd, shared 48 years of marital bliss and were blessed with six wonderful children. His family and church family still honor his memory during our Founders’ service in September and the annual Blood Drive. His “Memory Wall” hangs in the Narthex with his favorite quotes and sayings.

Founding Mother

Mother Thomasina Todd

“Christ Is all, He’s everything to me. Christ is all, He rules the land and sea. Christ is all, without Him nothing would be. Christ is all, Christ is All, He’s everything to me.”

The words of this song expressed the heart and sentiments of the late Mother Thomasina Todd, Founding Mother of Christ Haven Pentecostal Church and wife of our late Bishop and Founder, William Fleming Todd, Sr. They were blessed with 6 children and was united for 48 years of marriage. And through their covenant and submission to God’s will in their life, God graced them with a powerful and a pioneering ministry that continues to yield good fruit through the next generation leadership of Bishop Isadore Grant, Jr.

Growing up in Savannah, Georgia, God proved himself to be a sustainer to her family. Mother Todd was born the ninth of eleven children to Esau and Queen Esther Singleton. As a small child she remembers attending The Friendship Baptist Church, where she first learned about the Lord. She enjoyed going to choir rehearsals with her mother Queen Esther Singleton. Her mother raised her children to always support and care for one another through the best and worst of times. After the death of her father–which occurred while she was at the very young age of three years old–God was always there providing a way for her and her family. As a result, her family became very closely knit through the years. Mother Todd has always honored her own mother for being such a great example in her life.

Founding Mother Thomasina Todd was gracious to the Christ Haven ministry and is greatly loved. She was a seamstress, songstress, encourager, and lover of God’s word. She pioneered the Women’s Ministry of Christ Haven, served as a Sunday School teacher, and was the first president of the Usher Board and the Prayer Band Ministry. Most importantly, Mother enjoyed ministering to children. She had a Family Home Day Care. Also, over 20 years ago, she began the “Girls Growing in Grace” program, which is a Christ Haven mentorship program for girls ages 6-17. This program continues as one of the church ministries at Christ Haven. Mother also worked at the Walnut Street Elementary school in Darby Pa, where she served as lunch and recess monitor. After seeing the needs of those school students, she hosted a Saturday Morning Prayer at the school grounds once a month. She had a love and tenderness about her that connected with children. Former children that she helped along the years still keep in touch with mother and remember the impact that Mother Todd left on their lives.

Although Mother Todd’s final years were difficult, she remained faithful to the Lord and kept her praise. Mother Todd departed this side of glory on July 7th, 2020. We honor and remember the rich legacy she leaves! To God be the glory for the things he has done for her!
